Benevolence Ministry

Who are we?

As defined by Webster’s, we are a ministry set apart for the purpose of doing good. We are a group dedicated to helping those in our church family as well as those in our local community who need a helping hand. This ministry strives to show the love of Christ to others – from giving Bibles to paying bills.

The Benevolence Ministry is located at 603 McKinney Street directly across from the main sanctuary. Our office hours are now 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary.

What financial help do we provide?

In 2008, the Benevolence Ministry served 744 families and provided the following financial help:

  • $ 55,831.00 was spent for rental and mortgage assistance.
  • $ 55,560.00 helped pay utility bills.
  • $ 33,690.00 provided help for other needs, such as daycare, gasoline, prescriptions, automobile insurance, car repair, eye glasses, transportation, and dental assistance.
  • $145,081.00 – total amount disbursed

How is this made possible?

YOU help us show the love of Christ through your generous donations – either placed at the altar on Communion Sunday or given separately as the Lord encourages you to give.

Where do you fit in?

We, in the body of Christ, have all been given gifts to share with one another. Some of us are mouths; some of us are feet; others are hands. No matter what part of the body you are, you are important and have a unique role to play in God’s family. What can you do to support the Benevolence Ministry? You can …

  • Pray for wisdom and discernment for the Benevolence team as it distributes the Lord’s money.
  • Provide love offerings to fund this ministry.
  • Plug your “gifting” into the Benevolence team. Are you a/an
    - auto mechanic? Handyman? Electrician? Dentist, doctor, other healthcare professional? Person with a heart for helping and a tug from the Lord for serving in this ministry?
